Size guide
Posts, stories, reels, and profile photos use different ratios. Guess-cropping clips faces, text, or mobile safe zones. Here are the formats SMALLADAPT applies when you adapt.
The feed compresses and crops. A 16:9 landscape forced into 4:5 leaves bars or chops the subject. Stories and Reels fill the screen: edges get covered by UI (clock, buttons, stickers).
You don’t need to memorize pixels. You need the right named format and intentional framing: face visible, text away from edges, product centered.
On stories/reels leave generous top and bottom margin—Instagram’s chrome covers more than desktop previews suggest.
Typical mistake: exporting a landscape post “because the photo was that way.” Crop to 4:5 (1080×1350) or square for mobile impact.
Another: reel covers with logos glued to the edge. They vanish on phones.
Pick Instagram, pick a human-named format (Story, Portrait post, Reel cover…), then frame with fill / fit / background. Everything stays on your device—no server upload to resize.
